Ian Marsh argues that more attention is paid to building businesses and protecting them from tax, divorce, litigation etc, than to the human dynamic – even though it is a breakdown there that prevents most businesses reaching second and subsequent generations.  Conflict risk, he says,  is more manageable than most other risks faced by family businesses and, well managed, can lead to innovation  and growth.
